I have this model and like it a lot except for the pizza sized outside mirror.

Bob, that mirror always had my head shaking with “what the heck” thoughts.

That mirror, although awful, never bothered me as much as those stupid wheels.   Many years ago, I set out to improve mine (also white ) but once apart I realized a tremendous amount of labor would be necessary for a convincing scale transformation from average model  to detailed replica.     😬 😬 😬

Being lazy, I put the project on the back burner but may return to it one day.    For now, my best 1960's Corvair model is my 1/24 Franklin Mint example.  😐

I have the Sunstar Corvair  and a 1/25 model my Dad built. Don't know the manufacturer.

@grockwood That's actually a 1/25 scale '60 Corvair AMT promo which was sold in hobby stores or given away by a Dealership.   But it does appear that your dad repainted a few things adding a bit of detail.   To my knowledge, this was never available as a model kit.

Interesting. It might not be Dad's.  When Dad passed My brother took all his car models. When he died my younger brother and I split his collection,  I took what I thought were Dads.  The Corvair might have been his. He was a Chevy guy and Dad was a Ford man. Dad wouldn't have stepped into Chevy dealer for anything.
