+ 1 Chris.
It is not nice to mess with mother Mazda!
Here is the 1991 Mazda 787 - B 24 Hours of Le Mans overall winner. This car is done by CMR, it has opening doors and the front wheels turn left and right. The rear cover does not come off and the front cover also does not come off, over all CMR did a nice job on this 1/18 scale diecast and it looks great in person and if you like Le Mans cars this is a good on for your collection.
Mazda was the first Japanese company to win Le Mans until Toyota accomplished the feat in 2018. Mazda is the only car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a non piston engine as they used the rotary engine. The rotary engine was capable of producing 900 horse power but Mazda detuned it for reliability for the race. While the 1991 Mazda 787 - B was not the fastest car at Le Mans in 1991 the race is just as much about reliability as it is about speed and the Mazda 787 - B was fast enough to stay within striking distance as the faster cars started to fail and have problems, buy the end of the race Mazda had a two lap lead and took the overall win. This car is considered one of the iconic cars to win at Le Mans.
I have only one issue with this diecast from CMR and that is the screws securing the car to the packaging were put in very tight and one of the screws rounded the Phillips slot, I had to use my Snap On High Leverage pliers to grip the head of the screw to remove it, other than that the packaging is nicely done.
I looked at the Autoart ones but they are going for $500 to $1,000 dollars for used ones with the lower priced ones being damaged in most cases.
wow...I had no clue that they were going for that much now. Pretty sure AA released 2 different runs...mine is the first run bought for $140 shipped from Legacy Motors. The 2nd run came with a replica of the Le Mans trophy.
Well you cannot imagine the great joy that I feel for you in that the wheels turn left and right thinking that means East and West otherwise if they ever turned North and South that could be a real problem.. 🤣
@gavin WOW!!! That AUTOart of yours is OUTSTANDING!!! That may be one of their best.
Thanks @rich-sufficool! It was absolutely one of their best & one of the first Signature level series of models when it was released, but I think it may have been surpassed.
