The CCP would issue you the Shanghai 761 Parade Car instead. Built between 1966 to '71, it's powered by a 90 HP 2.3 liter straight 6 copied from the Mercedes engine For you less high rank, you got an open limo with an articulating rear seat back that unfolds to a second raised seat to make you more visible. They didn't make many but Romanian strongman Nicolae Ceausescu had one. four are known to still exist... 2 in private collection and 2 used as courtesy cars for a Chinese hotel.
That certainly looks like a detailed replica of this automobile made for the elites in China ( or elsewhere). This would have to be a rare diecast to have as an example and talking point for one's collection.
The front grille almost reminds me of the design of the 1964 Chevrolet Impala, although no Turbo-Jet V-8 is under the hood here !
I always liked this one, but I think I questioned the scale once - you assured me it's 1/18 and not 1/20-ish. Rich, does that sound about right? 🤔 🤔 It is a COOL model though.
@chris Compared to the other 1/18 sinomobiles, it seems correct. I've not found the body dimensions on this car so I can't give them to you along with the model's dimensions and let you do the math. LOL The only odd dimensioned model I have is the 1958 FAW CA71 "Dong Feng" at 1/20. It's China's first automobile and the pride of Chairman Mao. You could get the deluxe model in 1/18 but it was ridiculously expensive at the time. It came in a decorative diorama-like base with a real gold dragon on the hood.
