Info on new model
Recently bought a 1/18th scale Rolex Prototype Citgo #09, Pontiac, orange, made by " Action ". Don't know of this mfg. Very heavy model for its size. 2004 Daytona ???? Any info would be appreciated.

Rand I do know that Action is probably the premier manufacture of 1/18 NASCAR diecast. The....
...few in my collection (purchased only to fill in my continuum linear display showing the history of stock cars) are, as you noted, very heavy and nicely built. Detail is abundant and all that can open ...does. Doors, as in real stock cars, are fixed.
What I especially like are the movable roof deflectors and tire decals.
Nice models that are in scale, have great detail and display beautifully. Crongrats on your purchase.

Rand, I agree with Chris - Action does some nice stuff.
I've known of Action / Action Racing for quite some time. They do a lot of vintage NASCAR 1:24s 0f which I have several.
A few months ago, I bought the Action 1:18 C5-R Corvette / Compuware #50 / dark blue off of ebay. I was EXTREMELY pleased with everything about the car. *** Autoart did the same one in 1:18 - D4C-car list / 'AA80306'.
'Action' is worth every penny.

Action started with Nascar but did a lot of other interesting projects, funny cars, dragsters and these Rolex cars were on to. Done in 1/18 scale they are a mix of good and bad. The engine compartments were good, but they used tires like their 1/24 Nascars (shinny all over, even road contact areas). These were made in 2004 and 05, nicely packaged with a detailed box and outer sleeve. Here are some pictures of the Daytona Proto Type DP03, a Citgo #2 car of Andy Wallace, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. total production numbers were 10,712 covering 5 different cars.

Action also did 1/18 Indy cars, I've got a few of them in my collection along with the WEC Prototype car pictured. There is one other of those that I believe was done in white with a different livery. I also have the "raced" version of the Dale Sr. & Dale Jr. Corvette. I also have about a half dozen of the 1/24 NASCAR models. I try to go with the Elite ones as they have a little better detail. I think Action did a pretty good job, I just wish I could find a manufacturer who does Formula 1 models at a decent price point other than Minichamps.
