Looking like a google-eyed Kermit the Frog, this Porsche 928 was actually built to replace the 911 series. With its front V8 engine, the discovered room for rear seating (euphemistically: "Occasional rear seating", it was now a grand touring car beating the Panamera by almost a half century. Produced from 1977 to 1995, as much as its performance and handling were lauded, ultimately the 911 prevailed as consumers saw there ideal Porsche was the classic 2 seat rear engine sports car. POrsche did put a lot of tech into the 928 constantly upgrading the V8 in performance and displacement. This AUTOart model is an early - probably a '77 - by those 5 port wheels and the checkered pop art upholstery inserts.
I've never seen that color in a scale 928. I love it! Also, I've always admired Porsche's bold willingness to stretch out with unapologetic avant-garde interior patterns.
With regards to the 1:1, I've had the opportunity to drive them extensively as my brother-in-law owned two of them. It was a great driving car, but with the headlights open, the appearance was always questionable for me. The Kermit the Frog photos you posted clearly show why, too! Also, the exterior design was always compared to the AMC Pacer as the similarities cannot be ignored.
LOL!
Killer pics of this one Rich!
