It took 31 years since the Jaguar Type D for Jaguar to win another Le Mans 24 Hours. Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) had a relationship with British Leyland's Jaguar Division to bring back a contending IMSA and FIA car and after a series of prototypes and engine redesign of the 6.0 liter V12, the XJR9 made its debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona and handily won in the Castrol sponsored #60. It finally got a Le Mans win later that year in the Silk Cut sponsored car. As it is in these prototype racers, by the following year, the XJR9 was approaching obsolescence as Nissan began to dominate.
Model by Exoto:
@marty-johnson I was seriously considering the Silk Cut Le Mans winner but then Tony dumped the Castrols and I saved $100+. Those were weird times for Exoto. First he dumped inventory and tripled the price of the remaining stock. Although I must say I always like at least a touch of British Racing Green on my Jags.
@rich-sufficool - Yeah, Tony did some "creative" pricing on some of his issues.
I got one of these also at an excellent price. Still looking for the Le Mans winner Exoto with the Silk Cut decals.
