I'm a huge Ken Miles fan and made a custom of this car several years before the manufacturers got around to it. One little thing you need to do and you can do it with a piece of paper. Check out the photo

Look at the front, there is a cover to restrict air flow in front of the radiator. It looks like it may have been a cold day, the people look to be wearing long sleeves and or jackets.

Hmm, the model has a wing window post where I don't see that on the 1:1

A mistake by S.C. ?

If you look at photos of the 1965 Mustang in race trim most have the vent window post, some have it removed, the Shelby GT350R prototype does not have the vent post, it was removed and they also have a riveted or bolted strip on the top of the door possibly to secure a plexiglass window. This car in the photo does not appear to have the strip riveted or bolted to the top of the door.

The photo above is not big enough to zoom in for a clear look but it might have the vent window post and it might not, it is hard to tell. The only real item that stands out is the grille, you can see they have it blocked off with something and the people in the background all appear to have jackets on.

Zooming in the photo the light colored portion of the grille looks like that may in fact be a cooler of some kind.

@john3976 I actually think it is exactly the opposite. This race was run February 14th - now granted it was in Texas but just look at this year and you can understand that it might have been cold. I think they just masked off part of the grill to keep the heat up. You need to remember the car was set up in California and rushed to the track in Texas - likely they drove all night to get there and were not really prepared to retune the car for the colder weather. It is the kind of thing that a Ken Miles would do.

I found a higher resolution photo, it is still the black and white photo and it is still grainy but I was able to zoom it better, when you zoom it two things you can see the first is the vent window posts were removed from the car so there are no vent windows, the second is the object in the front is most likely a cover to block air, also when you zoom in on the higher resolution photo you can clearly see the people are wearing jackets so it was a cold day. So that piece is not a part of the car as much as it was added to keep the temps up that day.

Actually I found a third item if you look at the top of the door you can see were the added metal strip is on the door like on the prototype model that has clearer photos. Here is a photo of the prototype showing the car.
