If you're old enough to remember, that's "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco". Well, anyway... the Tyrrell Racing Organization built this model 004 in 1971 for Jackie Stewart as a works car for the '71 and '71 FIA Formula 1 seasons. Powered by the same 3.0 liter Ford Cosworth V8 as the other 3 built, it was not a favorite of Stewart or Cevert as it was the only model with a full width, semi-sports car nose. Stewart did drive in 1972 at Monaco and later Patrick Depailler at Watkins Glen. At the end of the '72 season, it was sold to Alex Blignaut, the organizer of the South African Grand Prix, who formed the "Blignaut Lucky Strike Racing" team for 1973 and then re-liveried the car in '74 as the "Blignaut Embassy Racing" team the following year again driven by Eddie Kiezan. Blignaut sold the car in 1977 and today it's back in Lucky Strike livery and owned by a collector in California who still drives it in vintage races.
Model by Exoto:
A very interesting history...surprising that it survived.

A beautifully detailed model (those tiny red Firestone logos stamped on the INSIDE of the tires are an awesome touch! ) and interesting that it not only survived but that it's some guy's collector car!
What was "Lucky Strike?" Some kind of pipe tobacco? 😏 😏 😏

Very nice model, and I am old enough to know what LSMFT means.

The thing I've always found interesting is that despite the mixed reputation of the Exoto owner, there is almost never a question (Motorbox excepted) about the quality and attention to detail of their models. This is another fine example of just how good they are. And this is despite the fact that the model is very old.
That Exoto racer looks superb and incredibly detailed, hardly a surprise from them ! I remember on TV "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco" vs the "Lucky Strike Means Fine Taste" commercials.
Aaah... good old Lucky Strikes. Back in the day, I Brylcreem'd my hair, put on my skinny jeans with the cuffs, my sh*t kicker black shoes and last but not least, rolled up my Luckys in my white T shirt sleeve (when tees only came in white). I couldn't afford the obligatory black leather biker jacket so I never quite looked like the "Fonz". LOL
I remember my dad because I was born in 53 sometimes he smoked Lucky Strikes and sometimes Camels. As for me well I never got the bug so I've never lit up.
I did use Brylcreem too !
I assume you are joking with your question what was Lucky Strike.
Yes, yes I am. I did NOT know that acronym LSMFT, but I've heard of those cigarettes.
Great looking model & very cool livery. Thanks again for the history. Always enjoy reading that.
