250 cc/cylinder X 12 cylinders = 3.0 liters of the Colombo V12. The 250 series of Ferraris were built from 1952 to 1964. One of the most track successful GT cars was the short wheel base (Passo Corto) Berlinetta built from 1960 to 1962. This CMC model captures to look of the mid-1960s Pininfarina/Scaglietti designed aluminum body with optional crank vent windows, deck lid license plate detent and side fender vents. The V12 was the last and best iteration of Gioacchino Colombo's creation with restored engines with the proper transmission selling easily for $150K. With only 167 of these cars built, surviving models are virtually priceless. Their racing successes in the GT class were legion. The more luxurious (Lusso) and custom bodied longer wheel based (Passo Lungo) were favorite rides of celebrities.

What a beauty and what a fine post. Thanks once again Rich.

Gorgeous! I can't imagine driving anything with an inestimable or priceless value, but to let a car like this just sit is criminal. 🙄 🙄Â
fascinating post, excellent photographs and breathtaking detail. Even after the comparatively short while I've been seeing these larger scale models I am still surprised by all the tiny detail.
A remarkable visual tour of this Ferrari automobile and sensational and detailed CMC model. Certainly, a standout in any collection.
@chris I always get a kick out of the owners of these multi-million dollar rarities take them out to vintage races. They start out conservatively until one passes another kicking off 'ego racing' that inevitably ends in collisions costing the owners 7 figures in restorations. The gasps and moans from the spectators are palpable.
I missed om this red version, it was gone before I even discovered the model. Then CMC released the race version and just before Christmas discounted the prices to $250 or something like that. I thought something is wrong with the race version that's why the sale but bought it. The previous year CMC discounted the silver Ferrari California and I was foolish to pass on it. Now these are selling at triple prices ...Â
The 250GTO is soon coming in multiple liveries. Considering the worldwide consumer has less discretionary funds available, and the greedy release numbers of the GTO's "limited" editions (2200 of each livery), I am hoping for buyer's market and great discounts. Cheers!Â
