I just had hand surgery for my lame right thumb and after 40-odd years on dental surgery, my right thumb is no bargain either. So rather than going into a long winded history of this iconic automobile and lauding CMC's model, I'm just going to throw up some pics and wrap up the ice pack again and see if I can get through this w/o hitting the pain killers. LOL You guys can discuss the positive camber on the model. I refused to alter it. I think it looks pretty cool.
"You guys can discuss the positive camber on the model. I refused to alter it."
Well, that's the model right there.... that overly-positive camber negates the entire replica; I'd throw it out. 😠 😡
Just kidding! It's a wonderful replica, but that camber is a bit too drastic. I've seen a few that have been fixed - a steady & firm hand using needle-nose pliers can usually correct this issue. However, bend that "hollow front axle" (as it's called ) too far, and, well.... you'll instantly turn this CMC into litter. 😬 😬 😬
I don't own this model, but I would try to "straighten it out" a bit if I did. Once again Rich, superb pics!
Tell me (us ).... You don't own a separate dash plate, do you? How'd you get that shot? Is that a stock-CMC pic?
@chris It's a stock pic to show the well scaled machine swirls that are all over the engine and firewall. As to bending the axle I'd have to be absolutely sure there aren't any casting defects or artifacts present which would fail catastrophically. Because one person got away with it, doesn't tempt mr with my luck. I used to do my own castings using all high grade materials and equipment and every once in a blue moon... "WTF Happened?!?!"
Have it, love it. Since mine sits in an acrylic display the camber can't be seen. Another gem from CMC. Good luck on the recovery Rich.
"Because one person got away with it, doesn't tempt my with my luck."
Oh, I get it... past performance doesn't guarantee future success.... AND whenever I attempt "tricky scale surgery" I most always have a plan B - spare parts or a handy quick fix at the ready. 😏 😏 😏
I wouldn't have the courage to fool with the positive camber on a CMC model. If I broke it, I can imagine my heart sinking while I'm cussing myself out for being so STUPID!!!
"I wouldn't have the courage to fool with the positive camber on a CMC model."
What a bunch of wimps! Just like performing on stage: noth'n to it but to do it - ***t or bust! Never be afraid to hack into diecast - it's just a model. 😏 🤨 😉
@chris Chris, you're the only guy I know who uses a buffer on primer.
@chris My apologies for not recognizing craftsmanship.
@marty-johnson Amen, brother!
