I do like Jags and friends in So Cal had a few of them, including a Mark II and a Mark IX. I am being offered a Maisto 1959 Mark II at a reasonable price (72USD), without original packaging but I don't know anything about the company. I did learn it was made in Thailand, but that is the extent of my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, are there any TDZ members who collect motorcycles in 1:18 scale? If so, I have something for them that can benefit TDZ in a small way. In the meantime, here are pics of the Jaguar Mark II:
That is a great-looking replica of this car ! I have a small number of diecasts in several scales of this brand.
Well..... honestly, this model borders on OK to "so, so." I bought one years ago for $5 just to pirate the hinges (I've yet to do it ).
As with ALL Maistos.... quality is usually good, but detail "fidelity' is on the poor side, rudimentary at best. There's simply nothing remarkable about this model; and even now they sell for pennies.
If you MUST have an example of this particular 1:1 vehicle, I would suggest those produced by Paragon. They offer greater realism & detail.
@chris We don't have any Paragon Mark IIs listed at the moment. I will keep my eyes open for one.
@chris By the way, from what site are the listed Maisto model images?
@gdh Search anything you want; however, I use it mostly for scale models. You can set search parameters to include OR exclude certain countries. Enjoy!

The small number of Maisto 1/18 Jaguar diecast automobiles I have are very well done and display extremely well. They are not expensive at all and are quite worth picking up and displaying.
@michaeldetorrice I think my main concern was centered on the wheels, which seem too small for the body of the car. Having spent some time around 1:1 examples it was the first thing that stood out for me, re the Maisto Jaguar Mark II. Also, the price over here is substantially higher than what I find in the USA for the same model, by 2x-3x and higher.
"Also, the price over here is substantially higher than what I find in the USA....."
...and THAT'S precisely why I chimed in WITH all those pics!
You, of course, have the right to purchase ANY model YOU choose, however, when I read:
"I am being offered a Maisto 1959 Mark II at a reasonable price (72USD), without original packaging."
I HAD to speak up!
Paying that kind of money for any Maisto, especially that Maisto, is analogous to spending $39.99 for a $2.49 bag of chips; I simply couldn't let you do it!
😉 😉 😉

Of course, the main thing is if you are happy with it and enjoy the model. Everything else is really secondary. If you feel the replica is worth it, do what you would enjoy and let others argue about this or that or the other thing ! After all, it is your car collection and you can set the parameters.
@michaeldetorrice @Chris The advice you gave, Michael, is exactly what I used to tell my clients when advising them on purchases of fine art: if you love it you should have it. The difference is I don't love the Jaguar Mark II by Maisto as much as I like it, and Chris's advice to get more bang for my buck makes sense, especially when considering my budget. This is one of the many benefits I have found on TDZ, where there is an abundance of guidance provided for a newbie, like me, and we can pick and choose what works best for us. Both of you gave excellent counsel and I greatly appreciate your input.
"I like it, and Chris's advice to get more bang for my buck makes sense......"
I appreciate that, I really do. Thanks! 😀 😀
Certainly, I understand Mike's point - if it makes you happy, buy it - I get it. Logic such as this makes sense if, for example, we're discussing a specific boat, rare car, or a particular house..... simply approach the owner and ask, "How much would it take?" I've been fortunate enough to actually do this a few times, and I "haggle price" with everyone else! 😉 😉
- But in the case of this MASS PRODUCED Maisto Jag....... Why pay more? Even if you have piles of surplus cash, why waste it? Personally, money is always like "water in the desert!" 😉 😉
@chris Especially for a retiree who does not have unlimited funds.
