Jaguar's most influential designer, aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer's last vision was the XJS saloon luxury grand tourer which became the longest running model in all its iterations. Production began in 1975 and ended in 1996 with 14,600 built. Sayer laid down the initial design at the end of the '60s but died in 1970. The design was finalized by an in-house design team lead by Doug Thorpe. The powerplant was their 5.3 liter V12. By the early '80s the HE V12 (High Efficiency) was introduces as well as an optional 3.6 L 6 cylinder. The XJS began its motorsport career in 1977 with numerous wins and in 1979 set a record in the Cannonball Run that lasted for 4 years. In 1982 Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) was fielding winning teams in the European Touring Car series and their tweaking of the now very reliable V12 was producing 451 hp by 1984. This model by Aa is of the winning TWR XJS of the 1984 Spa-Francorchamps. The design of these XJS saloons are timeless. I chose this TWR race because it's not only beautiful but it looks badass.

Another fabulous Jaguar story, Rich. A fine model with great images once again shown here. I'm going to miss your Jaguar history lessons and models once you run out. They are greatly appreciated. This one I only have in 1/43 by Minichamps.

According to my calculations, that I refigured to prove-out validity streams and confirm certainty, Richard can never run out of models; it's a mathematical impossibility.

@chrisย I was never good at calculus and differential equations so I'll have to take your word for it. My collection got away from me at least a decade ago. Since then, I have no idea how many models I have or even where some of them are. It's easier by far to access my photos than it is to access the models. I have a lot on display, but then I also have rooms and closets full of models in the boxes that are piled two to three deep. It's sad andย embarrassing.

Yes, yes....ย ย all that is numerically demonstrated and factored in by those two quadratic equations on the bottom left. ๐ ๐ ๐
