Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss Edition
According to an e-mail from Minichamps, Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR Stirling Moss Edition in 18 scale will now be released in 3rd quarter of 2012. Unfortunately, it will be only available in Orange color based on the license agreement. I think it is counterproductive from a sales perspective to exclude metallic silver as a color option for this particular 18 scale diecast car since the original concept was unveiled in this particular color. I, for one, have written to Mercedes Benz, for them to allow metallic silver (Iridium Silver in Benz talk) as a color option since the car looks great in this color. I hope you all too will write to their web site at Customer Service of Mercedes Benz North America to express your opinion on the subject. By reserving this color for their version of diecast replica, Mercedes Benz is being small minded and short sighted. Let us flood Benz people with e-mails to get some results,
Kind Regards,
Robert
P.S. Here is a copy of my message to MBUSA for your convenience in case you wish to cut and paste;
Dear Sir or Madam,
I has been brought to my attention that Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR Stirling Moss Edition will be available in 18 scale diecast in the Fall of 2012 thank to a licence agreement signed by Minichamps. According to Minichamps, this particular model car will be available only in orange color as stipulated in the license agreement. I consider this limitation to be counterproductive from a public relations point of view. Many 18 scale diecast collectors like me consider metallic silver as the best color for Benz cars since the silver bullets. I strongly urge you to allow Minichamps to use metallic silver in place or in addition to orange color in their 18 scale replica. Your concurrence will be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards...
Robert
Nice idea although............
the orange color is no doubt a bow to McLaren so you might be writing to the wrong people
When Minichamps first released the 1:18 SLR McLaren in 2010 it was available in silver
I suggest you keep an eye on eBay as there usually one or two available.
yup...I'm pretty sure it was a dealer edition, meaning it was sold through 1:1 Mercedes dealers.
They do come up for auction, but they're pricey due to their rarity.
