Sunstar tried very hard to replicate a scale model faithful to the original, every detail is here.....so it seems. My only complaints are the slightly under-sized wheelcovers, and the "blanket approach" regarding the trunk lining (which I could probably fix ). I have convertible versions of this, but I like the hardtop a bit better.
Looking over all these tiny details, it's hard to believe (at least for me ) that not too long ago, these could be had for about $50. Not bad Sunstar, not bad at all....my, how I wish we could return to those days of yesteryear! 🤠
A very nice looking model.

Fine images of this great-looking giant from Mercury and SunStar ! It is a very impressive model to display and playing in the background could be Percy Faith and his Orchestra playing the 1959 hit "Theme from A Summer Place".
I have both a convertible and hardtop of this 1/18 beauty from SunStar and they are favorites.
I 😍 that Sunstar Mercury. How they ever produced and sold the model for the price they did is absolutely unbelievable to me. The amount of detail in that model could give AutoArt a run for its money.

Yes indeed and one of my all-time favorites and in fact, 1960's #1 song. Unbelievably, just a few years later, long haired hippie freaks & chicks would be getting wasted & rocking out to hard rock tunes like Purple Haze! Talk about a music revolution! 😬
Most folks are unaware that Percy Faith re-arranged & re-released the instrumental as disco hit in 1976.... which I don't necessarily care for, but it is well done.
I don't check in often on this Forum, sorry for that, because every time I do, I am always very pleased with the posts I find. This is one of those.
I really do love this model, to my eyes, it's just about perfect. I had a great uncle in Ohio that drove one of these beasts, and these models remind me of his every time I see one. Looking at my database, it seems that I have four of them in my collection. Three of them were acquired in 2010 thru 2012, with the last one coming along in 2021. Since I wasn't really collecting this scale by then, that one must have been an impulse buy, LOL!
If you don't mind, here are mine.

HA, who would mind? Those are all great (I had to remove the skirts on mine... ) and as I noted, it's a very done model....so much fabulous-50's-detail! 😎 😎 😎
Glad it brings backs memories of your uncle.
