From the same era comes the 1955 Borgward "Traumwagon" (which, if you had to guess, translated to "Dream Car")
Lots of glass and space age styling cues much like the American calvalcade of that era, minus ubiquitous chromed everything that was the American obsession of the times. This makes the interior, especuially the dash, look quite spartan. The right side of the dash is flat and featureless due to the presence of a large piston strut that supports the entire cabin which flips up from the passenger side allowing walk in access to both the front and rear compartments. The rear panel sporting the license plate flips up to reveal a horizontally mounted spare. The power source was a 4 cylinder boxer engine as this was designed to be the dream passenger car rather than a performance sedan.
I think George Jetson would have ordered one.
