I wish you the best of luck! As we know, "good intentions" are not always synonymous with "project completions." 😉  ...and yes, $15.00 or $1,500.00 has little bearing on the "enjoyment factor." 😎Â
So, inquiring (nosy?) minds want to know, what color are you planning on painting the C8? And the interior?
Â
@fpaquet - I like either buying or modifying models that match my 1:1 cars I either currently or owned in the past. I've been very fortunate that many have been available in model car form. I recently took delivery of a C8, and I started working on the model well before the 1:1 was in my garage. This model will have an exterior painted in Arctic white with black and tan interior which will match the 1:1.Â
I'm looking to update this photo collection of 1:1 and model once I finish the model. Unfortunately, I'm in a "lazy" stage, and I haven't worked on the model car much in the past couple of months.
Â
Out of your collection of those 1:1's, what was your fun factor with the 300ZX ?Â
I like that one !
@marty-johnson congrats on the C8, Marty! Looking forward to seeing the Maisto finished to match. How's the C8 compare to your prior C5 & C7?
Marty;
Â
I look forward to seeing the pics of the 1:1 as I haven't seen one in white yet. It seems to me that color really matters to how attractive this design presents.

I vividly remember the scenario when I bought my 300ZX. It was a Friday, and I'd been eyeing the 300ZX for a few months. As I left my office, I told my Administrative Assistant I had made up my mind, and I was going to buy the 300ZX that night. My beloved '84 Toyota Supra with 180k+ miles was getting long in the tooth and only 160 HP, the 300ZX was 222 HP and represented a considerable bump in power. I wanted the 2+2 version because I needed to have a rear seat, and frankly, I thought it looked more svelte than the 2-seat version. I recall being pissed off at my local Cerritos Nissan dealer because when I asked how much for the pearl white, 2+2, with tan interior, they would not answer my direct question. All they did was ask how much I could afford on payments. That exchange was really irritating to me because how much I can afford is irrelevant. I just wanted to know the final price. Frustrated, I began walking out of the dealership, and then the salesman, sensing he was going to lose out on a sale, came running after me, saying they could sell me the car for $39k. I told him the price was ridiculous, drove to Morrie Sage Nissan in Universal City, and drove the car away that night for $34,000! Â
Now, that was probably a bit more information than you wanted, but I really enjoyed the car. It was my first Nissan, and I found it to be a strong runner with exquisite handling. However, it wasn't as good as my Supra. I keep the 300ZX until 2001 when I replaced it with my first Corvette. If memory serves, it had about 190k miles, and I sold it to a kid in Sacramento. I drove it to Sacramento and flew home to So Cal. Â

My Toyota Supra was once my all-time favorite car. I thought the technological design of the car to be just superb in every way. However, upon acquiring the C7, I was forced to relegate the Supra to the #2 position. The C7 earned the #1 spot in my automotive ownership hierarchy. All I can say now is, "Move over, C7! There's a new sheriff in town." The C8 is the undisputed #1. Â
There is so much to love about the car. But it starts and ends with how the car drives. It's a precision instrument. If the C5 was a hatchet, C7 a fine blade, then the C8 is a surgical scalpel. Everything about it, steering, braking, and acceleration, is just exhilarating. It's also totally adjustable so that from the driver seat, the car can be tuned to configure the driving dynamics one might desire. It's difficult to actually put it into words. But, without a doubt, this is the finest performance automobile I've ever owned or ever driven. Every time I drive the car, and after I return home, the experience leaves me speechless. Â
Great taste, Marty. I've been back on forth on the styling of the C8. I like it and, after spending some time in one, have an awestruck reverence for the driving dynamics. The interior was a giant leap forward as well. But I find myself learning toward the C7 style-wise. That being said, if I had to lay down cash, it would be for the C8. I felt like the C7 was a beast to be tamed, while the C8 was more integrated and satisfying. The only other car I felt so at one with was a Miata.Â

Glad you're so happy with it...looks great! I like your "knife analogies."Â Â You have any interest in the 750+++ HP E-Vettes that will arrive "soon?"Â (although a hybrid version will, more likely, be seen first).
It's a beauty in white Marty! The steering wheel seems to have been "altered" though...have you been pranked?
@chris - I'm on three Z06 wait lists. However, the E Ray is looking quite appealing too. Although it will outperform the Z06 in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, and likely on the track too, the problem is it doesn't come with the flat plane crank Italian wail sound that the Z06 produces. The Z06 exhaust note is worth the cost of admission all by itself.
