My review for: Lane Collectibles 1:18 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible- Ltd Ed of 696 - Yellow.
This is a gorgeous car.
The bright yellow and black convertible up top
is a pleasing combination.
If I sound less than enthusiastic, it's because my car
arrived with part of the front suspension broken off, one of the sun visors not in place where it ought to have been, and the inside rear view mirror fell off when I took the car out of it's packaging.
I was able to glue the front suspension part back on.
I got the inside rear view mirror glued back in place - only after a frustrating 20 minute struggle.
Since many of my cars don't even have sun visors, I left them off. After an agonizing hour of trying to glue them back in, I decided not to bother.
It rankles me that I spent big bucks on a car where
quality control was sadly lacking. I told the seller I would keep the car and not send it back. He had no replacment, and I have found that, often, when I'd sent a defective car for a replacement car, that the car I am sent
winds up having even more issues than the one I'd sent back!
It's a beautiful car. Interior is stunningly detailed.
Paint is flawlessly applied.
Just wish mine had arrived in one piece.
This car would have gotten 5 stars from me, had it not been such a mess, but it's 3 and a half stars. It is a beautiful car, and I do recommend it - hope yours will be in better shape than mine.
Lane 442
There was one recently for sale on this site. If it was bought on this site I would expect the seller to make good on the problems that you encountered.
Howard, I bought that car on eBay..
From a seller who's very good.
I do find more and more quality control issues with cars I buy, and it does get somewhat distressing.
I build model cars, and so am no stranger to gluing parts back on.
I still love the car; it does stand out nicely in my collection.
