My Sunstar 1:18 1959 Dodge arrived yesterday..
And I'm loving it!
I'm glad I bought it.
It's one of the rare times I bought a convertible,
knowing a hardtop or top up version is imminent.
I actually love it with top down!
The colors are fantastic; detail is amazing,
and fit and finish are spot on!
I recommend the car highly!
I'm extremely happy with it-and I believe you
would be, too!*

Excellent ! I'm glad you really like this '59 Dodge beauty and that you didn't panic like others based on some snapshots. I know it actually caused some people to cancel their orders and that's sad because '59 Dodges are such great subjects and Platinum Series cars are nearly always real winners in virtually all areas.

Mike, I'm 55...
and I've been a collector for many years now.
I know better than to judge a product until it
is in my hands. I've seen pre-production models
of diecast cars, and prototypes of action figures,
and I know that these are NOT the finished products
that reaches us consumers.
I have also learned to be patient-something that
I was NOT 30 years or so ago.

Jack I'm so glad you're happy with this one. I was VERY worried (glad I was wrong) and Sun Star...
....seems to have "stepped up" on this one. With great wheels, improved foil badging and an enhanced trunk interior (more scale like) I'm very pleased. Oh yeah....and it's a 1959 Dodge!
Obviously a hardtop & top-up convertible will follow (and perhaps a Police car) but did these cars ever race?
Was there ever any 1959 Dodge stock cars?

Mine arrived yesterday and I am one of those guys who cancelled my initial order due to pre- production pics. I reordered and the car is stunning. Aside from a hubcap which was laying in the box it was fine. The hubcap has three tabs and it snapped right back into place.

I might not be able to wait. I really don't want another top-down convertible (unless it's 1:1).....

Umm, as I thought, no Dodge but I did see Mercury (..a 1959 Mercury?) Could Sun Star be cooking ...
...up one of those?

Christopher, I never cared overmuch....
For convertibles without a top-up option,
as Signature offered with many of their cars,
but the Sunstar 1959 Dodge is an exception!
I just had to have it.
It's in a double display case with my 1:18
1961 Chrysler 300, which was only offered as
a convertible. The two convertibles look
fantastic together!
Besides, the detail on the '59 Dodge is so
accurate and amazing, it's a shame to cover it
up with a top!
The ONLY other time I went for a convertible
when the up-top version was offered is the
Eagle 1:18 1941 Chevy: They did NOT make the
top up version in burgundy, and I have the top
down version in that color-which, IMO, is the
BEST color for that car.
The "Rate or Review" option is still not
functioning properly on this site, so, I saved
my review of the Dodge, and will post it as soon
as I am able.

Jack - I'm also thrilled regarding the 1959 Dodge being another example of Sun Star excellence !!!
