...Rand, all hobbies are money pits. Very few generate income or are considered sound investments.

Exactly.

While I certainly have my share of models that have substantially appreciated in value, I've never had an expectation that my collecting is an investment in anything other than passion.

You tempted me...

... and I couldn't resist. I ordered the Barracuda and will post photos soon.

These look great ! Most of us collect models because we like them and cars in general. Nobody said anything about doing this for "investments". It's hardly a "money pit" if you are reasonable and also realize the great benefits of a relaxing and enjoyable hobby.

People who overly agonize about all this will have far less happiness in their life or pass away before their time with anxiety or a heart attack !

Good words of advice, Mike. I just hope my son will want these cars when I'm gone. Or at least make an effort to sell them at market prices. Of course, I won't know either way so why worry about it?

Here it is

The Winningest European Chrysler:
Chrysler of France's #42 1970 Plymouth Trans Am Barracuda that was driven by Henri Chemin. Chemin would order four of these Chrysler Trans Am Barracudas, and he would pilot this Hemi Cuda to a total of 62 wins! Chemin claimed victories in not just road racing but also in hill climbs and ralleys.

The Hemi Cudas were initially raced in Europe as a factory team. They were loud, fast and quite a spectacle at the race courses. The 426 Hemi Cudas competed against 427 Camaros and Mustang 428 Cobra-Jets in some of the race events.

+3, buy the expense is rewarding to look at and remember when a new car was very important and everyone new what it was because they did not all look the same in silver, white or black.

It's much easier to avoid agonizing if you have money to spend. Unfortunately, I don't...

... thus, my medications have to pick up the slack- lol.
