Old Tech vs New Tech... [PIC]

Comparing the 1964 Dodge 330 Ramcharger Candymatic 426 Hemi SS/A factory drag car to this phantom latest generation 2008 Dodge Challenger R/T 392 Hemi Ramcharger. The 392 Hemi wasn't in production Challengers until the 2011 SRT8 package but was already developed as a race engine in 2008. True to the Candymatic theme, this Challenger came with a 5 speed automatic. with a base horsepower rating of 470, it was capable of 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 12.9 @ 111 mph. I'm sure the Ramchargers' engineers would have bumped this up considerably. The'64 ran the A864 Lightweight Package with aluminum bumpers, hood , scoop along with magnesium wheels that brought the weight down to under 3200 lbs. Thee 426 was underrated at 425 HP so, who knows what factory magic was put into it. at its peak, the Ramchargers Dodge had times around 11 seconds which dropped to 9.0 in full A/FX Funny Car configuration. All in all, the 392 @ 6000 rpm would out rev the 5000 rpm redline of the 426, so it kinda looks on paper that they'd be evenly matched.
