New display enclosure for my 300S
That sure is impressive George! Beautiful.
What a beautiful display of these models !
Highly impressive collection George.. Thanks for posting..
Wow, that is really first class..........
There is a part of me that wishes I could display all of my cars that way but then I would have to move to the Vanderbilt mansion in Newport RI to have enough room to do so.
It would be great if I had the space to properly display all the really nice models in my collection that "deserve" it but of course I don't. I compromise by dedicating special places around the house and rotating favorites in and out. I'd get some photos of the several other displays I've built but being wheelchair-bound pretty well limits my camera activity to my "studio".
George, I would like to see your display...
To be honest, I learnt wood works from carpenter, already knew electric work so did lighting in the display by myself, learnt glass cutting and polishing so that I could make glass shelves for the model to park as per their size, made custom fixtures for the focus lights.
I may suggest you to optimise the space available with you, instead of building new display.
below display and glass shelves are being built by myself.

That's really nice looking work, Animesh. You're right about making the most of the space I have
That's why I want to build my own displays. Finding anything prebult that fits just right in the chosen spot is near impossible.
I've a lot of the tools required and some of the skills but I'd sure like to be able to work with glass like you. That looks like pretty heavy glass you're working with. What thickness is it?
It is 8mm thickness. you can use 6mm too......
It depends upon length & width of the glass v/s Model's weight and number of glass holding brackets..
What sort of tools are used to cut that heavy material?
I have a tool like the one shown below (insert wisecrack here) . Can I use that along with a straight edge to cut that thick glass?

Use diamond embedded glass cutter..
upto 16mm thick glass, a regular glass cutter can be used. It usually has a small diamond embedded at the end, which mark a thin line over the glass surface. this tool is not much expensive.
