PHOTO THEFT. Help Needed.

What can I do if a dealer on eBay has used ALL my pictures of the GMP 93 Mustang LX Yellow Convertible in his ad without asking my permission? It appears like he lifted them directly from the D4C. I hope it isn't anyone here or anyone I know. Here is the listing number on eBay....

http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-Mustang-LE-5-0-Convertible-by-GMP-1-18-NIB_W0QQitemZ7005318814QQcategoryZ223QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Can't something be done to prevent people from stealing your photos for eBay listings?

Help needed, please.

Patty,I just sent the seller an E-Mail asking him if he had your permission to use the pics. Then ranted that if he didn't that he was stealing............But I guess that it won't matter to him.Patty don't feel alone on this, yours are not the first pics to be used without permission.......

EBay would act in your behalf.....

...if the images were taken from an eBay listing. It is against eBay rules to use another sellers photos without permission. But since they're Internet pics, and without a registered copywrite, I believe he can use the photos as he wishes. I believe the Internet is considered public domain.

Maybe this seller got permission from D4C....

...because I'm pretty sure, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but D4C wants anyone using pics from this site to ask permission...

I suppose this happens often. There is no real way to prevent it. I'll try and put a large watermark on each pic from now on.

Thanks,
Patty

A poster on another forum has had the same problem in the past.

He's since added a copyright in his pix that, if edited out, ruins the image of the model.

Ya gotta stop taking such cool pix, Patty!:)
Make them crappy like mine and no one will steal them:
photo no longer available :))

I never thought I would be glad to see a Patty Henderson picture disappear

LOL. That is a good one, Tom.

In my befuddled state of mind today, I actually had to read your subject line twice!

Picture Patty has been initiated into the ranks of "photo artists good enough to swipe from." Hey, it's nice to be in the same ranks with Tony P., Rusty, Lee, Joe K., Tom, Richard (Forgive if I've left off others).

That is mighty good consolation.

Patty
