Chris, if you're right, I stand corrected.
PICS (1:1) Ahhh, Ken, I think Chris might be pulling your leg just a little bit.....
These are the fine cars that he's referring to....

...an ad for a later model made by the same company....

...and a pic demonstrating it's superior handling characteristics. Note scars on the side and roof from previous rollovers....

Gene, he not only pulled my leg but arms, neck, etc. aswell.
A true British classic Gene. It existed because only having .....
three wheels it was classified for taxation purposes as a motorbike! Therefore considerable savings could be made over a car with four wheels!
A work mate drove a Regal and it certainly was an experience as a passenger. I was surprised to find that I didn't have the usual leg room in the front.
Cheers Chris

My apologies Ken - my comment was a direct reply to the one ....
Paul made. I knew he would understand as a British chap.
I had no idea that you Americans were totally unaware of the classic British three-wheeler excepting Gene of course.

Actually Chris, I have heard of the Reliant. I take it in good humor old boy. Thanks for the pics of the Reliant.
(PICS) I actually have a Bond Bug (1970 Reliant) as well as a Bond TypeD minicar
I admit, reliants and microcars aren't mainstream in North America, but there are a few microcar clubs around. My brother,Larry and I have collected (and/or restored) six three wheeled microcars.
PICS (1:1) Not very many people on this side of the pond can make THAT claim, I'm sure Clifford.....
Here are a few more examples of classic Road Tax dodgers from my files....

This one is actually a Reliant. Only the Brits would build a motorcycle with a steering wheel. ๐ Do you guys suppose it's the same company?....

And they even came in articulated form....

Easy to drive, easy to park!....

But no list would be complete without including the immortal Scammell Scarab, in both three wheel....

...and seven wheel form....

P.S. This design was not a strictly British idea. Here's my buddy's 1952 Moto-Guzzi. It's current registered and street legal....

Don't forget Benz was just following on from ......
Cugnot's Steam Carriage - which was a three-wheeler.
So Reliant were in good company.

An interesting set of images Gene but one small point ......
the three wheel design still had to pay up for the Road Fund License fee.
They certainly were not tax dodgers. If there is a law there are always some enterprising companies that will take advantage!
