Hey David, CMC released a standard version in the lighter blue on eBay. This is a much darker blue.

I can understand that. I have the Kyosho too, I just couldn't resist the CMC GTO!

The front end of the two cars is different.

Frank, yes, the 3809 car is not the same front end shape as the other GTO's
But it looks like CMC correctly modeled the 3809 front end as it is today accurately. So, is it safe to say the CMC model replicates the 3809 car as it really is today? If so, I've decided not to get the racing versions. as they are supposed to model cars with a more correct (as shaped by Ferrari) front end shape. Which the model does not have. To me, it is perfectly fine as a replica of the one car. in red. as it sits in a garage today.
My Kyosho's will have to suffice to replicate the racing versions.

That is also the way I look at it........
the only race versions I would buy would be ones that this actual chassis raced.

Frank, I found some images of this car early in it's career, and probably before it was wrecked.
The front end looks more like the others. the headlight covers are shorter and the front does not protrude as much. So it would have to be when raced after the front end was rebuilt. No one should get me wrong. the model is beautiful, and the detail is massively satisfying. I have the red one, and it serves to reflect on the actual car. I recommend the CMC model to anyone. if you can't see the shape differences, even better, get a couple in the racing liveries.

Hey Chris, that's pretty cool. Can you post the early photos of the car?
I agree with you about the CMC model. It is beautiful. I can definitely see the differences in the front end, but I don't really think it detracts. I also have the red one, and a couple of the LE's on order. Someone must've told CMC that there was a sucker for classic Ferrari's on the loose!!

sorry for double post. The car was "restored" in OCT 1965 in Great Britain, where he nose was shaped wrong.
