PIC - Thank you Bill Bennett! I took your display idea of the Fiat Bartoletti and copied it!
For only $6.00 this dramatically improves the look of the display!

Looks great, Marlowe. Definitely an improvement.
Marlowe, that looks great! I especially love the 'flying Pagani' right in front of the Bartoletti!

Looks fantastic!
What a difference. That is such an amazing piece it was a shame to have those dark plastic 'cones' detract from it.
And the rest of the case is not too shabby either!
Wow Marlowe..those cases look really nice. I take it that you've also used some earthquake straps? We used to use them and eq putty to secure all the items at the restaurant.
Thru all the shakers we had only one item ever tumbled down...a 4oz notebook. Your collection is much too nice to be rattled around.
Marlowe, I really like the wall cases. Are they custom built?
Magnificient display Marlowe..........I am seathing with jealousy..I WANT THAT DISPLAY RIGHT NOW :)),,,,,,Great job Marlowe
Thanks, Bob! They are not custom built but the culmination of a long search for the...
... right kind of cabinets I needed for my models.
Literally, and not figuratively, for years I've been searching for the right cabinets! I've always had some very specific requirements. During my years of searching, I found some of the requirements but couldn't find all of them. It took time but I finally located the exact cabinets I always wanted.
The first criterion is they needed to be the correct size to fit in the space that I have. As you can see, I have a return air register on the wall so the cabinets would have to be configurable to make that accommodation. I also wanted glass sliding doors that I could lock. That would protect the models from flying out of the case during the Earthquake that is certainly coming. I also wanted glass shelves and illumination too. After years of searching, I finally found a company that sold cabinets that met all my criteria in New England. I purchased them and had them sent cross country to me. They weigh over 200 lbs each so I mounted them on load bearing walls. I also have one in my home office where the Ferrari collection is displayed.
After I mounted the cabinets, I made this video to commemorate my "happiness."

The cases are mounted into load bearing walls so securely, the house would have to...
... collapse before the cases come down. The entire purchase and design was based on the reality of the Earthquake that we all know is coming. My models are ready!
