This is a 1941 Packard Darrin convertible in a cream color, as done in diecast exceptionally nicely by Signature Models in 1/18 scale.

Great pics again, Mike. I had that model, but I had a problem with the peg for the tonneau cover not sitting in its hole properly. The last time I tried to adjust it, the hinge for the trunk and one of the doors broke off! I've never had a model that defective before, but I would seriously consider getting it again because I like the design so much.

Wasn't there one in blue that had a spare tire on the driver's side ?

Yes, Signature released that one too. Unfortunately, both these models (along with a few others from Signature ) are known for suffering from diecast cancer.  If can find a "good one,"  consider yourself lucky.

I had one and loved it. Years ago Patty/Patti, who was a Forum Member, was looking for one so I sent it to her.

I wonder how she is doing with her health issues.

Wow, that was very generous of you!  That was "Impala Patty"  if I remember correctly; I haven't heard anything about her in years....Perhaps someone else has?

@paul-rouffa Yes Paul, sadly your model had diecast cancer.  There is no prevention, no fix, no cure.

To be clear, many models suffer "paint rash,"  which manifests in ways similar to an actual skin rash, tiny bumps, hazing, roughness.... but 99.9% of the time this will NOT morph into destruction. It will remain as an "unsightly paint finish."

Diecast cancer  is FAR worse. Contaminated metal alloys will break down the zinc, affected pieces of your diecast model will then swell, crumble, become brittle, break and eventually turn to dust.

Here's a good example of diecast cancer:   😔 😕 😔

Cancer
Cancer2
Cancer3

I have lost a very few diecast zamac cars to intergranular corrosion/diecast cancer. So, far my Packard Darrin and 1960 Ford Galaxy seem to be ok. The Signature Packard's and this stylish convertible would be a sad loss if that were to happen, but some times part of a run of diecast can be affected and the others can be fine.

Thanks for helping me to remember Chris. I had forgotten what her name was and I know she used to post lots and lots of pics. I hope she's doing well. I know I did contact her when she had posted that she wasn't doing too well and I just sent her a quick email asking if she wanted to sell any of the models she had but I never heard back from her. And thanks for the compliment. You know sometimes we all got to look out for each other.

I believe Patty had some serious health issues. Several years ago she had some 1/43 white metal models for sale and I bought two...a 1967 Corvette and a 1958 Impala hardtop.

I believe I've been coming on to these Forums for about 20 years now. If I'm not mistaken I think Patty was the only female member I ever saw posting here.

I agree Mike. Sadly, there are a few Forum Members that I remember that are no longer with us for various reasons.

That's true. And I realize people/forum members can suddenly pass away, and to those here, they seem to have just disappeared. In fact, I know too well what can happen.
