Here is an early Yat Ming 1/18 diecast of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. It had a number of innovative features but the Chicago-built automobile was ultimately a VERY low production car, among other controversial aspects. It makes for a cool replica, in any event.

Only because forces greater than Tucker literally destroyed the company. Ultimately, he was found not guilty on all charges, but it was all for not. Despite overwhelming public interest and praise, the company was dead and only 50 cars were built.

Always a fan of Tuckers (...and could've purchased a bargain-priced smashed Tucker w/a ton of extra parts that auctioned for $28,000 years ago...but that's another story ) I can still recall spending a "whopping"  $49.99 for a my first 1/18 Kyosho Tucker over 25 years ago.

IMO, just a gorgeous car, and yes....that 1:1 convertible is a fake. Despite all the "compelling evidence,"  it was never a "secret Tucker factory-built concept."

Great pics Mike, especially that street scene.

The Tucker is a controversial subject, but of course makes for a great 1/18 (or any scale) diecast model. I really like my Yat Ming and once also had a red version 1/18 from them, too.
