1955 was a big year for Detroit and there were many  beautiful automobiles that year. My family had both a '55 Pontiac and a '55 Chevrolet. This is Welly's great-looking 1/18 1955 Oldsmobile in gleaming black convertible form.

This body and trim separation wears a 2-tone well but all black suits it very well too.

It really does look great in all black or two-tone, as a real car or as a 1/18 diecast replica ! I used to also have a Welly 1/18 '55 Olds Super 89 in two-tone green. It was also a terrific looking car.

Thanks, Bob ! We were fortunate to be around when these first came out as real automobiles.

I, too, like it as a solid color car! And always LOVE your pics. And there's another well-placed aircraft that made it to the scene!! Bravo Mike! Welly does a nice job on the 1/18th scale cars!

Thanks, Tony ! The 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 looks wonderful in this solid color and can also have a natural trim demarcation for a two-color look, too.

Lol, the plane is a styrene plastic replica of the McDonnell XF-88 Voodoo. Later in the 1950's and 1960's, the F-101 Voodoo II was developed for use by the USAF as a fighter-bomber, interceptor, or reconnaissance aircraft.

If you could pilot the automobile or the aircraft, it gave you that "jet-like" experience ..... and most certainly with an Oldsmobile "Rocket" V-8 engine !
