Here is the 1964 Ford Thunderbolt high-powered car, designed for drag racing using the Fairlane body and a mighty Ford 427 V-8 engine. It was done in the Ford Collection series, which was essentially at later Ertl Authentics level. It is a great looking car and there was some talk at one time of Ertl perhaps doing a regular Ford Fairlane, too.

Just a great model. Finely crafted details such as hanging keys, tiny wire mesh hood scoop ports and visible rear seat springs ensured this model would be an instant hit!

.....and yes! I'm still waiting for a regular Fairlane!  🙄 🙄

What always tickles me about those T-Bolt models is the replication of the support springs for the rear seat backs with no bulkhead separating the trunk.

@rich-sufficool Right! The first time I saw that, I just about fell over. I thought, "Oh man, how cool is this!"    😎 😎

....yep! Not to mention that fold down visor, sliding & folding seats, pull-out ash tray, tension-spring door latches, rotating window crank handles, fold-down gas filler door, and geared & greased differential w/rotating driveshaft. I thought I read where Ertl correctly chose not to engineer a rotating fan blade (..as was done on other HW61's &  Authentics ) because Thunderbolts  had a clutch-fan.

Great pics Gavin!
