Great photos!Β Great model!Β One I'd have added back in the day.Β One question, why the stupid rear window?Β It's a hardtop, wind the windows down!
Woah! Hang on there, big fellow!Β π π¬ π¬ π πΒ
Mike's car is NOT a hardtop, it's a 2-door sedan (Oldsmobile called it a "Club Coupe" ) hence the window door frame. HW61 released these 1/18 Oldsmobiles as 1966 & '67 models in either 2-dr sedan, 2-dr hardtop or convertible form.

WOW!Β Guess you set me straight!Β My mistake and apologies.Β When I'm done typing this, I'll go to my room and stand in the corner for an hour and think of the horrible mistake I made.Β Β
@chris All these details of hardtops, club coupes and door frames to watch for, are all useful to know about so thanks for the information. Being in Europe I hardly ever get to see these beautiful US machines and would never have known about this style had you not alerted us to it.
@georgeschire Well, all that's OK, for starters but a 2,500 word in-depth study on 20th Century automotive design trends based on social-economic factors as it relates to the purchasing trends of post-war American consumers would be best. It's really the only way you'll learn.
LOL, I like both my '66 and 67 H61 Oldsmobiles as they are now, but once you purchase a diecast yourself, one can do whatever you would like and prefer to have. In dusty archives, undoubtedly a number of things were done in factory one-offs and experiments and may exist now only in memory or in forgotten photographs.

I agree 101% !
I hope you don't agree 101% with the portion of my comment above when I called the car a "Hardtop".Β I'm now serving 1 to 5 years in car prison for NOT realizing that it's a "Coupe".Β Β

Don't worry George we forgive you as a matter of fact I'm going to add money to your prison compound money so you can get some top ramen for dinner tonight... LMAO

And then I remember I think that is one of the 'Ten Diecast Model Commandments'.
'Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Diecast Model Cars'Β
Ahhh, but I honestly think people are probably quite delighted if you additionally like and desire a model replica that they appreciated and picked up, too !Β Β
