This is Ertl's 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo personal luxury automobile with the big 454cid V-8 engine under the hood. This was done in Ertl's "Elite " line, which had a bit more detail and was a bit more expensive than the regular Ertl 1/18 replica, but not at "Authentics" detail and cost levels.

Yep, this is a really nice model (except for those dark eyes ) - and one I wish I had.     Cool pics!  😎 😎 😎

I liked it too, especially the color but that “eye” issue kept me away.

"....that “eye” issue kept me away."

I know, right?   Those headlights are so dark, so terrible, it's a wonder someone from Ertl, or Auto World didn't try to re-tool/re-engineer them.     This Monte deserves better!    🤨

I like the Monte Carlo so I couldn't care less about someone complaining. Since the "perfect" diecast model hasn't been built yet, apparently no one should obtain anything until it miraculously appears on the scene.

@mikedetorrice I love this model, as I noted - I want one!      But you must admit Mike, those headlights suck, right?   🤔     That's all we're saying.... relax, calm down; it's not a battle, or debate.      😬 😬

The dark headlights don't particularly bother me. Since the "perfect" diecast model hasn't been built yet and will never be built, waiting for it will involve having zero replicas for a lifetime. It is a hobby or a ridiculous search for something, anything, which might be considered by someone as, "incorrect".

"The dark headlights don't particularly bother me."

You acknowledge that they are indeed "dark."    That's all we're saying, that the headlights are too dark; they're terrible looking.    WE AGREE WITH YOU.

NO ONE, especially me, is criticizing you for your purchase, so why be combative?     Why are you trying to make an issue from a "non-issue?"      There's simply no need to reference "perfect diecasts,"  or "incorrect perceptions."     No one's arguing.    🤨 🙄

Great pictures.  This is my favorite generation of Monte Carlos.  I'm not touching the headlight debate Shutmouth

"I'm not touching the headlight debate."

What debate?  🤨 🤨 🤨

We ALL agree that the headlights are too dark.   That's it, done!  😉

@chris Yes, perhaps not a debate.  I think the issue is that Mike is rightly proud of his model and has taken some really great pictures of it and all the emphasis on a minor detail probably pissed him off (sorry if I'm speaking incorrectly here Mike).  The criticism might be completely valid but the delivery could use some tweaking.

Well I stepped in it afterall.  Just saying.

"....and slamming the model because of a minor detail probably pissed him off."

Assuming you're correct, I fail to see any connection.  🤔 🤨

Re-read my very first post, then tell me where I "slammed"  anything.   This MC model is very nice, sans the terrible headlights that we ALL agree, including Mike, are too dark.   It's a fact, period - next subject.   Just as 2+2= 4.  It's a fact, period - next subject.  😐 😐

Mike likes to go off on numerous, unrelated tangents that are unnecessary and argumentative.   I never understood why he seems to enjoy "fighting & arguing"   for no reason.

Perhaps he was Captain of his high school debate team.   😯 😉

@whodeytink Ah, you changed your verbiage; you initially said, "slam."

BTW: We all think Mike takes nice glamour pics, and we ALL enjoy them.   However, any model's details (good & bad ) have ALWAYS been "open for discussion."     No model is perfect, but that negates us from discussing it?

Perhaps I have "thicker skin."     We can ALWAYS discuss it!  👍 👍
