The actual dreamcar Chevrolet Corvette Mako Shark dates from about 1961 and foreshadowed some of the upcoming Corvette Stingray's styling features, combined with a sensational paint scheme. This version was done very nicely by MotorMax in 1/18 scale some years ago.

I can no longer look at these without recalling stories about Billy Mitchell's team becoming so frustrated about being told repeatedly, "these colors don't quite match  - paint it again boys,"  that they secretly re-painted Billy's shark (that hung above his desk ) to match the car.   Only then did Billy say, "that's perfect!" 

If you've ever had a job - you KNOW this type of trickery does exist.    😏 😏
