(PICS for Richard) Tommy Ivo's Showboat..........
In the previous post, Richard mentioned his two favorite vehicles in the day were the Hemi Under Glass, and Ivo's Showboat.
GMP did a wonderful job replicating the Showboat and, if I remember correctly, the 1/18 model came with a CD enclosed in the package showing some history of the car. The Nail-head Buick motors are exceptionally well detailed right down to the second header back on the inside of each of the left-hand motors aims down instead of up. This kept the inside group of headers looking even. Remember, this was an exhibition machine, and like all of Ivo's cars, looks mattered.
In reality, when this car made a quarter mile pass, almost all that was visible was tire smoke. Later on, this exhibition car was given a fibreglass semblance of a Buick station wagon body.....called Wagon Master.

I got mine from TV Tommy himself,,,,, along with a lot of cool ephemera. I think he emptied out his attic. He was pretty sick at the time but in good spirits. He chuckled when I said I remember him from the Dobie Gillis series. He was in a bunch of TV and movies back it the day including some of those Beach Blanket Bingo type movies.
I still have the old Hot Rod Magazine with him and the "Showboat" on the cover with him dressed as a carnival barker with straw hat and cane.

Either on the video or somewhere I read that Tommy Ivo said that it was a myth...
... that all four tires smoked. He said if all 4 times broke loose in smoke, it would make the car uncontrollable. Consequently, only the front tires were in a wheelspin condition and the rear tires were "hooked" up.
