PICS - Galen Laird's post of the '69 Corvair reminded me of a project that I've...

... toyed around with in my head. Actually, I took it a little further with doing some Photoshop work too. The model would enable me to build Malcolm Durham's '66 Corvair funny car.

Sunstar only makes a convertible and a hardtop of the 2nd Gen Corvair does not exist in 1:18 scale. However, the roof is very much like the '66 Biscayne bubble top. That does exist in 1:18 scale and I could remove the roof and attach it to the Corvair convertible. It would require extensive sectioning but not insurmountable. The AWB would be achieved by moving the rear wheels forward and extending he nose as well. Galen, I hope you don't mind my "borrowing" your photo for illustrative purposes.

Ha! I have a "code" that dictates I cannot start a new project until...

... the one I'm working on is completed. I have my Bronco Buster that's been gathering dust for almost 2 years. I gotta finish that one before I move to the Malcolm Durham funny car.

2 years already ! You must be busy with other projects. I know I've put my 2 custom jobs aside for now too. I finally finished my custom Camaro late last year. I'll see if I can find pics. There was nowhere as much work put into it as you do.
Just a few mods here 'n there.

Pics. Side window removed. Brake discs drilled out. Wider tires & wheels from Maisto Challenger.

And, it's hard to see because of the background, lower body all around car is blacked out to take out some of its height.
Also, cut springs to give it a lower stance. Foiled inside of tail lights to give them some depth.
So Marlowe, this is nothing compared to your artistry !

Ha! One thing cool about modders is no one is in a contest trying to live up to the skillsets...

... of other modders. There's always a Chris Moroni or Clifford Read that will produce something that blows your mind. Most of us appreciate the work by all others because we understand what goes into taking the steps to do something daring. That said, your mods look great! Well done! The pride in your work definitely shows!

Marty, I think the roof you are refering to is from a 1962 Bel Air rather than a '66 Biscayne.
