My twin brother and I have collected a bunch of microcars over the years, so naturally, we're always interested in models or toys of that genre of vehicles.
Schuco produced a 1/18 Isocarro pickup a few years ago, copying an example from a museum that had used a home-made wooden box instead of the factory stamped metal version. Many restorations of Isocarro pickups have included home-made wooden pickup boxes, simply because it's a lot quicker and less expensive than trying to refabricate the correct stamped sheet-metal version. These Isetta based tiny trucks are usually known as ISOCARRO, but they sometimes go by the name ISETTACARRO or AUTOCARRO
Anyhow, I wanted my model to look 'factory correct' so I removed the resin 'wooden box' and fabricated a more correct box using sheet styrene. It was a quickie project and I think it worked out well
That's a masterpiece in sheet styrene, Cliff. Realism aside though, Scchuco's "wood" box is so much cuter. LOL
