A fine, very fine, unique collection of 1/18 diecast scale models; in fact, the only one of it's kind in existence. No doubt any automotive museum (such as....Oh, I don't know...The Peterson Museum) would love to have to these.
Marlowe, your handy work could live forever! What a great collection; these are so cool!

Yes, you've mentioned that to me before about donating to the Peterson. I know...
... our very own late Jay Olins did the same with his collection. He donated it to the Nethercutt Museum and I've seen it there.
Before my future "transition" my wife Vicky wants me to sell my collection so she's not burdened with trying to deal with the complications of it all via eBay. Matching boxes, paperwork, etc. that enhance the value would be problematic for her. I've already told her that ain't gonna happen. I have a detailed spreadsheet that I keep up to date identifying each model I have and its potential value via eBay. I've given thought to actually placing post-it notes on each box to match a code number on the spreadsheet. That would make it easier for her. I know Vicky would have a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to ship my custom Ford Transporter to a buyer. What are the chances that she would know how to package and ship it? What are the chances that it would arrive at its destination without incurring significant damage in transit? Perhaps a model like that should be advertised as "pick-up only."
I've estimated my collection today is probably worth north of $75,000. So, I have to admit that her point does have some merit and deserves consideration that I ain't gonna give it! LOL! Perhaps as I age, I might unload it on a museum and take advantage of the tax break due to the donation. I dunno what I'm gonna do. Time will tell.
How about you? You have a lot of really valuable "one-offs" as well. You have that custom tractor and trailer that is a "one-off" as well. Have you given thought to how your family would unload your models?

Well..........
In short, it's my sincere hope to have the bulk of the collection (including customs) disposed of before I "move on." You're aware of the quantity involved and the necessary logistics; just how "liquidation" will occur is still pretty much an unknown but I do have several options (at least as of Sept. 2018). I do, however, foresee overall values dropping (..but that's another story). There's also a model RR collection to contend with. You'll recall, the 1:1 collector cars are already gone (..there may be a few more in my future).
Speaking with and knowing several collectors (including 1:1 cars) throughout my life the popular consensus is to "unload the collection while one is still vertical." After all, who knows the collection better? My son the doctor has never been a car guy and my wife exhibits even less interest.... so it's really on me.
Let's change the subject, now I'm depressed. lol!
