GREEN on GREEN, what's not to love.
Not only a classic American car, but an awesome replica of it !
Have it, love it. Aside from the tire issue that plagues this model, it's one of the best 1/12th scale models out there. A classic!
WHew!! ... Was holding my breath waiting for your reply ... whew !!!!
DDG ... 2 Thumbs UP .... Standing Ovation ... Droolin' all over keyboard
+1... It's a real showpiece.
Does this suffer from melting tires like my 1:16 Caddy?
They haven't melted but ALL of the Danbury Mint 1:12 scale Caddys suffer from...
... the tire enlarging and the bead separating from the white wall.
What Marlowe says. I had even ordered a replacement set of tires from DM shortly after the problem cropped up. After a short period of time, even the replacements started to stretch out.
I have my Caddy sitting on stands to keep pressure off the tires. They look OK, but will stretch once I set the model on a flat surface.
There are a couple fixes out there for the tires (mostly cut and glue or glue to the rim under clamping pressure). I have yet to try either fix.
It's simply a case of the supplier using cheap tire materials with poor compression set properties. It could have been easily avoided.
