(PICS) Well, 1/18 diecast car manufacturing may be on life-support but not so with high-end figures.
Apparently, the scale figure market is booming.
I've been noticing greater numbers of these well done, EXPENSIVE, 1/18 scale figures.
I've included a small sample, Bond, Bullitt, Dr. Porsche, Al Capone, Ford, etc... but there are many others.
Each figure reatils for $185.00 and UP! Most ave. $250.00 Obviuosly designed for the discrimant collector; successive releases indicate that all is well with this segment of the hobby.

Wow nice pictures and figures,
Thanks for the pictures.
I have seen them for quite some time on Ebay............
but he is asking $350.00 for most of them. I am wondering if he sells because at this price, I will buy a CMC model and be far more satisfied with my toy LOL.
I can't see $150+ worth of value here. The figures
I've gotten free with some of my models look just the same to me!
I've seen these too. While they look great, I haven't purchased any...
especially at some of the prices they are fetching. Personally, I would rather spend that on car models.
James Bond made in Moscow, whatever next!!
I think they're great, I'd like to know what Richard Sufficool thinks, as he's most definitely the man for a figurine.
Great point Paul!
I hate to say it, gang..... but they are worth the money IMHO...
Incredibly well characterized, iconic poses and expert finishing and painted with great craftsmanship.
I've seen these pictures before and they conjure up the works of Sheperd Paine. Granted I only have the pictures to go on but it appears to have been painted in oils which gives you masterful blending of flesh tones stylized and characterized just right for the scale.
This is not mass produced stuff.
Being a leg man I must admit, that figure has a great figure. Thanks for the added info guys. It's..
....about what I figured. (Sorry)

Figurines
Boy I like to get my hand on some of those figurines especially the real 007 Sean Connery. I got his trick Aston Martin and a hard to fine book from England about the car. Discontinued book. I tried to get more but the guy in England went into some other business. I lost out on one of his book Bond favorite places.
I got from England the little Nelly and the Lotus that goes under water all 1/43Th scales neat stuff.
If you know were to get some of those figurines I will give you a list and send you cash ?

This is high quality cottage industry product...
High density centrifical casting probably in an RTV mold of the master with a limited life span. Perfectly chased of flash and blebs, prepped and painted.
If I did this in my dental lab and charged that amount... I might possibly make minimum wage after maybe 15 or 20 units. Just recovering the expendible supplies you need is a 3 figure inventory.
I just started back in just figure painting (no sculpting) and in two trips to the hobby store, I blew $150 and that's only because some of my supplies that were 4-5 years old were still serviceable.
Bob...you can find them on e-bay http://www.ebay.com/sch/levdiecast/m.html?item=271104340347&pt=Action_Figures_Diecast_US&hash=item3f1f13f17b&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

I have 3 of them - gangster, Al Capone and Henry Ford and I'm going to get more.
Fortunately, the price is lower here in Russia, but not by much.
I've met the guy, he has invested a lot into making them for his collection and hardly been getting any profit from it.
I guess nobody posted this one yet
