Despite his impressive resume as the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and Emperor of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo (Manchuria), throughout his life he was merely a pawn starting with the Empress Dowager, then a warlord, the Japanese, the Soviets and finally good old Mao Tse Tung. All he ever wanted to do was to go to England and become a teacher. He chose the name 'Henry' for England's Henry Vlll. He managed to die just before beginning of the Cultural Revolution when he probably would have been beheaded by the Red Guard, despite being "pardoned" by Chairman Mao after years of captivity.
This 1932 Cadillac was purchased by the Japanese and turned into the state limousine for Pu-Yi. The model was endorsed by the Manchurian State Museum. The kicker is this may actually be a Chrysler.
One of my favorites. And it weighs a ton.
A remarkable and fascinating model of a one-of-a-kind. At least Emperor Henry Pu-Yi had some first-classic American transportation !
