Bryan, that is an excellent photo, and makes the paint look fabulous. I have one of these puppies in gray with red interior. As mentioned, the overall paint finish is good, but not great on all of these no matter which color. BUT.... still a really great model and good value too.

This is actually the gray version, but I darkened it up a bit trying some different things in photoshop.
You are right, they are a good value given the size of the models. There are some shortcomings like the paint, shutlines, etc., and overall feel. They picked a great subject matter for the scale and came out with some great color combos and I liked the wheels. You don't normally see these types of wheels on 300sl models.

Wow, that's the gray one....? I was sure it was the black version. I guess you really did darken it up.
I agree with all you added about these models, and yes, the optional Rudge wheels they modeled really help set it off.

I also have the silver and have resisted getting the black-you're not making it any easier for me LOL. Wish they would bring us a Jaguar XKE coupe and roadster, and the SL roadster that has been announced but not seen.

1/12th 300SL Gullwing
I got two of the red ones in the Mercedes-Benz official box. Be careful when handling the car the driver's side door mirror is very fragile. Also when putting it back in storage put a arrow on which side the top of the Cocoon goes or it will Benz the mirror. Event he steering wheel tips down like the real car with optional rouge wheels.
