Question for the masses: When considering to buy a real car, how important is the color of lighting on the guages? For example, my current car has blue lighting and is very eye pleasing.
I MUCH prefer blue or white gauge lighting. Red, like on many Subarus, REALLY bugs me. I've read....
that at least one model (I forget which, now) offers the driver a choice at the touch of a button. Will wonders never cease? 😉
Gene, I suspect red is used for the same reason we use it in astronomy and also used in submarines.
The red doesn't impair vision like other colors do. The eyes require very little adjustment from the light, back to dark again. Purely from a safety standpoint, red is probably better.
Aesthetically, I like blue.
Well thank the Lord my car buying day's are over, unless I was blessed with another 72 Citroen DS 21 or a 40 Bantam coupe. But I always liked the blue dash lights because as mentioned they are pleasing to the eye and that helps me sleep better, HA HA ! I do prefer the blue.
No doubt that's right, Marlowe. Maybe it's just what I've become familiar with, but I find......
that I have focus problems with the red lighting. My eyesight has always been pretty weird.

As Marlowe says, it's very easy on the eyes. The colour of the lighting played no part in my decision to buy the car.
This played a large part in the decision process.

My Mustang has MY Color
You can change the dash lights to just about any color that pleases you.
