Replicarz

I'm thinking about picking up a couple of Replicarz 1/18 Indy cars. I've never seen these first hand. What do you'all think about them?photo no longer available

PIC - They are very nice John, and about the only game in town.

Most of the 1/18th scale Indy Cars in this picture were mfg. by Carousel 1 which Replicarz are now selling under their own name as I understand it. The midgets, sprint, and dirt Champ cars were produced by GMP. Hope this helps.
Cheers and Happy Collecting,
Steve

Very nice collection indeed.

Noticeably missing from any manufacturer as far as famous Indy cars is the #28 Cummins Diesel Special. 1952 Indy 500 pole winner (diesel powered). I think it may be a licensing thing though.photo no longer available

Hi David, That is a 1/43ed scale, 1935 Duesenberg SJ Gurney-Nutting Roadster J-585

All the models on that shelf are 1/43ed scale.

1:1 History,
Of all Duesenberg Model Js produced just thirty chassis were delivered to European coachbuilders and only one of them to Gurney Nutting. Equipped with a supercharged engine, this J was ordered by Maharajah Holkar of Indore, who was just 28 at the time. The British craftsmen fitted the long wheelbase chassis with a voluptuous speedster body. As the car was destined for a royal career, it received various special touches like chrome flagsticks and red and blue lights on the front fender to indicate whether it was the Maharajah or the Maharanee driving the car.

Upon completition, the car was shipped from London to New York and driven back to Indianapolis by Duesenberg employees. After a final tune-up the Gurney Nutting Speedster was delivered to the Maharajah's Santa Ana, California mansion as there were fears of Japan invading India. After the tensions in the region had dropped, the Duesenberg was shipped from Los Angeles to Singapore and on to India. It remained there until the 1950s when it was brought back to the United States, where it remains to this day.

The highest numbered Duesenberg chassis has been meticulously restored with all the royal touches retained. It was entered in the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where Duesenberg was one of the featured marques. Not eligible for class prizes, it did receive the award for the most elegant open car on the field.

The model is by Stylish Cars.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Steve
