A beautifully sculptured Fantuzzi body over a tubular frame and graced only by the Maserati trident, this 300S was built between 1955 and 1958 for the FIA Sports Car Championship, filling the void the Mercedes 300s left after the tragic crash at the 1955 Le Mans event. Maserati's 3 liter 6 produced between 245 and 260 HP giving it a top speed of 175 mph. Going head-to-head with Ferrari's 250 Testarossa and Jaguar's D-Type, it was driven by such legends as Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio and Carroll Shelby. 26 of these unique sports cars were built with various body modifications, especially to the nose. This CMC model of a 1956 build in RHD configuration is true to its original design and has a tag of chassis #3058. And yes, the replicated Borrani wire wheels have valve stems for those so obsessed with that feature.... and you know who you are! LOL
I'm guessing the pit crew guys were obsessed with valve stems as they had to maintain air pressure. Nice feature though.
Great looking diecast and information.
Breathtaking at every turn! 😬 😲
Chris took the words outta my mouth 😂 I would expect the attention to “detail” that CMC included. I wish I had purchased a CMC model when they were affordable. Prestige Hobbies in Stanton,CA (just a mile South of Knott’s Berry Farm) had models on consignment and one was a Fetrrari 275 but it had one clouded headlamp. I think the asking $ was just under $200 and I passed on it. As for it having “valve stems”, I personally do not remember 😂 Thanx for great pics & write-up Rich.
