I recall the car - I was a real FAN! (Sorry Marty) Hey Bud, CONGRATULATIONS! A wonderful score. Pics whenever you can. Merry Christmas to you - and yours!
"I just acquired a 1-of-1 model of the Exoto Chaparral 2J sucker car!"
A 1 of 1 of what? What the hell is that? My "rarest" is a 1 of 6 prototype. How did you manage to snag a 1 of 1? You MUST share the backstory! 🤨 🤨 🤨 🤨
Wow! Magnificent! Please tell us more. I have the Mid-Atlantic version in 1/43 which I like very much but this one?
@chris - Actually, not much of a back story. Tony Keusseyan had it up for sale on eBay. We negotiated a deal, and I snagged it.
@david-green - When I receive it, I'll take photos alongside my Replicarz version. Without a doubt, it'll be quite the upgrade from Replicarz.
@marty-johnson What is it? Your "teaser pic" looks like a dust-buster. I assume it's some kind of land-speed record breaking rocket type thing-a-ma-jig contraption. 🤔 😯 🤔
@perrone1 Thanks Tony! Nothing I'd want, but we all know how eclectic Marty is. 😉 😏 😏
Look at the detail of each photo on the listing - Tony K. called it, "Furious Detail" and he was right. It's incredible. (CLICK ON: SEE ORIGINAL LISTING):@perrone1 Thanks Tony! Nothing I'd want, but we all know how eclectic Marty is. 😉 😏 😏
Also be sure to read Tony's, "Brief Story on Humanity" also on the listing. A true eye opener of what happened to our diecast hobby.
@perrone1 Well then..... Don't I have egg on my face. 😖 😞 😟
That's quite a sad origin story for a 1/18 replica; I'm kind of surprised they sold it off at any price. The historical legacy will now fall to Marlowe - the current caretaker. No doubt, this will share "show piece" honors with other distinctive & valuable models in his collection.
Thanks Tony.
Thanks Tony, that is an excellent article about the full sized 2J. Just read the eBay post after reading the car history. Nice research!
All that investment by Exoto and then to be caught up in Chinese economic and political changes, ending up with the one sample and I assume an overall wrecked business. So sad and what a loss. Protect this model well, Marty.
I totally agree Chris; I would have thought it belonged in a special place at Exoto but happier that Marty got it!!@perrone1 Well then..... Don't I have egg on my face. 😖 😞 😟

@marty-johnson I can't seem to find the back story can you post it on a separate thread? Fantastic pickup!
