Somewhat off topic, but here goes: Besides our love for old cars, many of us associate them with music we listened to back then. In addition to cruising for chicks, we also cruised with radios tuned to our favorite stations. As a teen, my favorite station was WIBG out of Philadelphia, Pa and my favorite DJ Jerry Blavet. Anyway, here is a small sampling of my favorite songs from back then.
1. True Love Ways...Buddy Holly (1936-1959)
2. Dream Lover...Bobby Darin (1936-1973)
3. In The Ghetto...Elvis Presley (1935-1977)
4. Cry Baby...Janis Joplin (1943-1970)
5. What's Going On...Marvin Gaye (1939-1984)
6. Travelin Man...Ricky Nelson (1940-1985)
7. La Bamba...Richie Valens (1941-1959)
8. Wy Do Fools Fall In Love...Frankie Lymon (1942-1968)
9. I've Got So Much To Give...Barry White (1944-2002)
10. Summer Wind...Frank Sinatra (1915-1998)
11. I Fall To Pieces...Patsy Cline (1932-1963)
12. Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go...Hank Ballard & the Midnighters (1938-2003)

You got it Michael...he's still kicking around!
Ken, thank's and these were some of my favorites as well.
I always liked listening to The Wolfman out of Chula Vista, Calif.
I liked the Coasters, my favorite was and still is Duane Eddy, I still have all his albums and keep up with him on FB. Anything by him is top's for me.
WIXY radio in Cleveland played all the tunes then when I hit boot camp it was Wolf Man Jack in the mid sixties
Anything by Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Beach Boys and the early Beatles works for me.
In the sixties, WKBW in Buffalo was the thing! A few of my favorites:
If I Needed Someone - The Beatles (One of my all-time favorite songs)1966 - "KB" introduced it as a new single but it never happened. It appeared on Beatles VI.
Cherish - The Association 1966
Twist It Up - Chubby Checker 1963
Wild Weekend - the Rockin' Rebels (from Buffalo) 1963
Light My Fire - The Doors 1967
Dawn (Go Away) - The Four Seasons 1964
You Don't Own Me - Leslie Gore - 1964
Lay Lady Lay - Bob Dylan 1969 (WLS - Chicago)
Laughing - The Guess Who 1969 (WLS)
This is a small fraction of my likes. I hope it brings back memories to you as well!
10:10 WINS New York with Murry the K and the swinging soworay
Must have been great times, Paul. So many of these cats died so young !
Don't forget "The Rockin' Bird", Joe Niagra WIBG in the 50's.
Hey Randy C. where in Buffalo? I lived in Lancaster, Cheektowaga, and then Depew b4 moving to SoCal and yes, WKBW was the station I listened to most. I don't really remember any others. Here in SoCal it was KHJ-AM an K-Earth for FM. Always liked..and still do..the Beatles, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers and alot of others.
What great memories to have!!
I was born and raised in Lockport; about twenty miles north of Buffalo.
I enjoyed growing up there. Did you ever travel down through Newfane to Olcott Beach? It was so quaint....still is.
I went away to college in Wisconsin and never returned to live in New York. In fact, the last time I was in Lockport was 1999.
2016 is the 50th anniversary of our 1966 class. Maybe something will be happening there. I heard that there has been in fighting amongst those who plan those events and so nothing gets done anymore. Sad.
