Fine images of this all-time winner from SunStar .... and from Pontiac ! I agree that early quite-amazing Platinum pricing was a great bargain. Although, I always thought the 1956 Lincoln Premiere convertible in yellow was the first of the Platinum series releases ?
I recall driving to a Menard's Home Supplies store where collectors reported they were on sale for $ 29.99 ! Supposedly, Menard's got a bunch of initial releases because SunStar had decided to re-do the boot on the top-down convertibles and these were already done and available.

I'm 99% sure Sunstar's Black/Red & Blue/White 1/18 1955 Pontiac Hardtops were the first Platinums.

Chris, the Car List & Reviews have, if it's correct, the Lincoln released in '06 and the Pontiac in '07.

'56 Lincoln Premier black convertible was the first model in the series released in January 2007 (in Europe).
