You have to see Jay Leno's Garage featuring his Stanley Steamers to understand the technology involved. They were fast and quiet but required a lot of know how to operate which is why the relative convenience of the gas engined car ultimately won out. The model is 1/16 by TFM.

Great pictures Rich. I really think these 1/16 scale models by FM are superb. I liked this model enough to have it both the red and green.
