Fred and Augie Duesenberg entered their supercharged straight 8 race car based on their Model A with drivers Joe Boyer and L.L.Corum. After a supercharger problem early in the race, the brother replaced Corum with Boyer who was more aggressive and pulled out a win at the end when the leader had to pit for tires.
Coming in 16th place was Sir Sterling Moss' father, 27 year old Alfred, a successful London dentist. He was to attend Indiana Dental College for advanced dental procedures, but instead drove a Fronty Ford in the race. He would have continued racing but his practice was so successful, he never raced again. Looks like he passed those genes along to his son.
Wow, that is a beautiful model. The very delicate wire wheels are pure artistry.
