...that I'll finish one day.  Sunstar's Platinum series, overall, is (was ) fantastic. They churned out some really great 1/18 replicas. A few, however, had noticeable flaws: Their 1959 Dodge-with its droopy fenders & "tucked-in"  fins is one example but undoubtedly their most notable mistake was on their '58 Lincolns.  The windshields are simply too low.

Years ago, I hastily extended the windshield frame & door vent windows to the proper scale height. Although I know how to form & reshape a new windshield, I've yet to do so.

With the exception of the slightly smaller than scale wheelcovers and the windshield issue this Lincoln is otherwise outstanding. Details like photo-etched parts, tiny badging on the back-up lights, spring loaded wipers, removable skirts, material lined trunk, opening parade boot, scale size, beautifully done eng. compartment, and so on all combine to truly make a statement.

I was hoping Sunstar would correct this issue, but that seems highly unlikely... so one day, I guess, I'll have to do it.   🙄 🙁 😔

I am so delighted that SunStar did this giant Lincoln in 1/18 in their excellent Platinum Series ! I have four of them : two top-down convertibles ; a top-up convertible and also a hard-top. I understand the 1:1 original was one of the largest uni-body automobiles of that time and was built at the dedicated Wixom plant. As I mentioned before, you could land a Piper Cub on that enormous hood.

Yes, it was and as a result very few convertible wrecks can be saved (without considerable labor/$$ ) from junkyards because most cars literally rotted in half.

A great model although the top is too low. I opted for the Yellow convertible as the black top somewhat disguises that fact. To this day, I can't get over the value these Sun Star models were and are.

When I was collecting this scale, this model was at the top of my list. It's not perfection, but it's such an imposing model, I couldn't help but pick up a few of them. All great colors, had I continued to collect this scale, I might have added a few more.
