Produced from 1962 to 1964, derived originally from two salvaged 250 GT SWBs, The 3.0 L Colombo V12 powered chassis got a new aerodynamic Berlinetta body designed by Giotto Bizzarrini and Sergio Scaglietti and with eyes on Le Mans. From the two cobbled together prototypes, new dedicated chassis were built for the new body design that by 1964 received LM or series 2 bodies. Back in the day, if you wanted a 1st gen 250 GTO there was only Bburago in 1/18. The model had good bones but was lacking in parts count. By the time that model was released, the paint finish, which used to be horrible, was pretty good and amenable to polishing out any orange peel. I bought it as a kit so I could detail it a bit and use those wonderful Cartograph decals which, to me , was worth the price of the kit which varied in price from $15 to $25 in bid box stores. I don't know the pedigree of the model's livery, chassis and license number but I'll assume it represented one of 250GTOs thar were built and raced to satisfy homologation requirements to race in the FIA 3.0 Grand Touring Class. Decades later Kyosho released their model of the 1962 class winner (and 2nd overall), the famed #19 chassis #3705 with license #MO-77914. No two bodies were exactly alike so it's hard to critique the Bburago's overall design, but of course it lacks side windows, and properly bezeled lights. The engine is basic with the 6X2bbl carburetion. The spartan interior is similar, but the Kyosho overwhelms the Bburago with its parts count throughput. Although shod in generic tires, the Borrani knock off wire wheels are beautifully done. Ironically, the Bburago has proper Dunlops. Now CMC has the old #19 model with a mere 2200 pieces! It's sold out at their site as they've already gone on to the LMs and the 275GTB/4 that finishes their front engine Ferrari classics. It was $650 at their site and I don't even want to know what the secondary market price tag is. So I would say my upgrading of this automotive classic has come to an end. LOL
Here's the Bburago first then the Kyosho:

..... probably a nice chunk of cheddar. 😏 😏
- The master of enhancements! Your BaBaBa-Bbrurago looks much bababa-better! Although your Kyosho is far superior, of course, those "generic tires" do stand out. 😒
Great pics!
PS
Not that it bothers me, but is there any specific reason for the blue seats?
@chris I don't know who chose that blue upholstery, but that's correct for that car.
Dayum, just why do they always look so great in red ? 👍 For the pics.

While Ferrari is known for its iconic red cars, blue interiors, particularly in some early race cars, are believed to have originated from a resourceful team member using the blue overalls of Ferrari personnel for seat covers when material was unavailable.
As an homage, they are put in race-inspired street cars as well. Ferrari Daytona SP 3:

Ok, that seems plausible, Thanks Tony! 😎 😎
@john3976 What's not to love? That's a showstopper! It appears that right trunk hinge would interfere with the spare, but I guess it's an illusion.
I'll bet dollars to donuts that that spare is the same size as the other tires.
"Sucker bet!" On a CMC, there's no doubt that it is, on an Exoto.... it's a crap shoot!
I thought it was the AutoArt Cobra
Oh no my friend, it was Exoto who chumped all who purchased their Cobras! They tooled the spare wheel-well too small, so.... they downsize the tire to fit! WRONG!! 😡 😡 Exoto chumped us!
PS
I don't believe Autoart has ever issued a Cobra.

Thanks for setting me straight ! I'm starting to worry about my memory now...🤣 And 👍 for your pics ..I had a feeling that you wouldn't disappoint !
